Introduction: Uniquity Feature

Background

We have chosen this antiquated term to head a very special feature in the Directory. Often, the elements that make a community unique are lost in the welter of statistical data and the sheer mass of general information. However, given two essentially identical venues for an industrial site, site selectors frequently make a choice based on what is called "the intangibles."

Description

Uniquity provides an EDO with a place to present those intangibles--the qualities and elements that make its area distinctly different from all other places. The characteristics that define communities are as varied as the communities themselves:

  • A propensity for modernism and all things new and innovative
  • A love of tradition and the best of the past
  • The heritage of an area, its historical underpinnings, that may influence the mindset of its workforce, or its preoccupation with certain processes
  • Physical features, such as mountains or lakes or rivers, that create unique circumstances and opportunities
  • A clustering of facilities that make a certain production process feasible or more economical to operate.

You Have a Choice of Materials

EDOs may utilize the Uniquity feature by presenting a variety of program material:

  • a static, traditional web page with copy and graphics
  • multimedia programs combining audio with graphics
  • animation
  • a video

EDOs are asked to be creative so as to take full advantage of this opportunity.

Uniquity Is Offered Free of Charge

There is no charge for this feature. If you would like to see an example, click here, then exit the page to return to this page.

Uniquity Pages Are Accessed in a Variety of Ways

  • If an EDO already has appropriate material on its web site, we will link to it from the Directory's Uniquity feature.
  • EDOs may wish to produce new material and domicile it on their web sites. The NCFEDO link then takes them to the appropriate page or program.
  • EDOs may wish to produce materials and domicile them in the NCFEDO Directory. To defray server expenses, the Council charges $12 a year for 1-5 pages of content. Some multi-media programs that require greater bandwidth will be leased at $25 per year.

Production Services

The Council has a production capability and will produce web pages and other material for EDOs at low cost. A Cost Schedule is available.

If you would like to take advantage of the Uniquity feature, please contact the Council. In most cases, you can have your materials posted to the Directory within two weeks.
