The National Council for Economic Development Organizations is a non-profit organization dedicated to meeting the information and communication needs of all economic development organizations (EDOs) throughout the United States.

The Council differs from more traditional trade organizations in its vigorous approach to marketing on behalf of its members. The Council's primary mission includes the following objectives:

	Present comprehensive and accurate contact information for economic development organizations and their trade allies.
	Create easy-to-use access between EDOs and prospective companies or their agents, the site selection professionals.
	Identify and assist in the production of data critical to the selection process.
	Utilize the most current technology and software to deliver that data to site selection professionals.
	Facilitate the differentiation process, whereby an EDO can explain to a prospect what attributes make its area unique in the market.

To meet its objectives, the Council focuses its efforts in the following areas:

	Directory of Members ― An annotated directory lists all EDOs and their trade allies, providing compete contact information, as well as additional information about the mission and programs of each organization.
	Critical Information ― Site selectors want to minimize time spent on data collection and analysis. The Council has a variety of Directory Features that highlight Available Properties, Special Programs & Incentives and online Support Services. Council staff will assist EDOs in getting the most from these features.
	Uniquity ― An antique word for attracting the attention of a prospect. A special Feature in the Directory, Uniquity lets an EDO communicate the essence of its people and its area to site selectors. Music, animation, video, games-whatever gets the job done.
	Data Collection & Organization ― The Directory presents the usual numbers and facts, plus some new takes on what is really important in the market.
	Web Production Services ― Many EDOs need assistance in the production of presentation materials. The Council can provide low-cost production of individual pages, multiple pages and complete sites and programs.

The Council exists to serve its members, the nation's EDOs, and depends on their involvement and expertise for its vitality. Members are regularly asked to respond to ongoing data requests and to provide information about economic development issues that most interest them.
